FBA's Olsen Patt Henry, Naples' Jonas Duclona, Golden Eagles shine at FBU Top Gun Showcase

Some of the most talented high school football players from across the country came together over the weekend at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples for the FBU Top Gun Showcase.

The nations best flexed their skills, but a few players ultimately separated themselves from the competition.

After it was all said and done, two Southwest Florida players will head to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the All-American Bowl Game after earning an invitation to the week-long event after showcasing their talents this past weekend.

First Baptist Academy’s Olsen Patt Henry (Clemson commit) and Naples’ Jonas Duclona (Cincinnati commit) were two of the five rising seniors selected to compete in next year’s bowl game which is slated to be played on January 7, 2023, in San Antonio.

“That's why I came here,” Henry said after receiving his invite to the bowl game. “I wanted to compete too, but my main goal was to try to get this invite and I got it.”

Henry had a breakout season last year for the Lions, becoming the first Collier County receiver in at least 16 seasons to surpass the 1,000-yard mark, finishing with 61 receptions for 1,053 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Jonas Duclona: Naples 3-star defensive back Jonas Duclona announces verbal commitment to Cincinnati

Duclona will follow in the footsteps of former Golden Eagles defensive backs, Tyler Byrd and Devin Moore who competed in the All-American Bowl Game in 2016 and 2022, respectively. Seeing the former Naples players compete in the game years prior was all the motivation Duclona needed.

“I always wanted to be in the All-American game ever since I've seen Tyler Byrd and people like that in the game,” Duclona said. “Devin (Moore) was in it the last year so that made me want to be in it even more.”

The Cincinnati commit was not the only Golden Eagle to be recognized at this weekend’s event. Teammates Niko Boyce, Kensley Faustin, and Ben Bouzi all received invites to The National Combine after stellar performances this weekend.

“I’m truly blessed and thankful for the opportunity to be involved in The National Combine,” Bouzi said. “I also want to thank the coaches from this weekend for improving my game, especially coach Justin Miller and Clinton Kent.”

The Golden Eagles had over 10 athletes competing at this weekend’s event. Kendrick Raphael, Isaiah Augustave, Keylijah Williams, Sam Kelley, and Logan Nibbelin all were given all-camp team honors after standout performances.

With aspirations of a state title run this upcoming season, the Golden Eagles think events like the Top Gun showcase are the perfect preparation for what is to come this year.

“Like they say iron sharpens iron,” Faustin said about competing with his fellow Golden Eagles. “With that, we're going to just get each other better and then in season get each other better and then to go to states that's our goal.”

The Naples defensive back room is loaded with talent after the addition of Faustin, who transferred from Palmetto Ridge. Duclona, Bouzi, and Faustin were all also named to the all-camp defensive back team.

“The chemistry is good,” Faustin added. “We’ve known each other since we were kids, and we all have the same goals to go Division I and to win states. Once we get it clicking, we can’t be stopped.”
