FBI: Fugitive wanted on multiple charges arrested in South Carolina
An FBI fugitive has been arrested, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed.
Michael Burham, wanted on kidnapping, rape, and homicide charges, had been on the run for four days, according to WCIV News.
Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said that they received a call about a suspicious individual being spotted behind their shed around 3:30 p.m.
Burham was taken into custody at 5:17 p.m., Lewis told WCIV.
Lewis said Burham blurted out that he had been on the run and wanted something to drink.
He was given water while being evaluated by Berkeley County EMS. EMS then cleared Burham, according to WCIV.

Lewis said Burham was not armed and was not bitten by the K9 dogs that helped track his him.
Burham was taken to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office to be interviewed by the FBI. Lewis said it will be up to the FBI as to where he is booked.
“I am grateful to all the law enforcement agencies who came together and put in hundreds of hours of hard work to get a dangerous man out of our communities. We also thank the many residents throughout the Charleston region who served as extra eyes on the streets, submitting countless tips and sightings. We all came together, and our communities are safer tonight because of it,” Charleston County Sheriff Kristin Graziano told WCIV.
BACKGROUND
On Sunday, officers were sent to an address after a kidnapping call. When they arrived, officers found two victims, who said they were from Pennsylvania, who had been kidnapped from their home and driven to North Charleston.
The victims told the officers that Burham was responsible for their kidnapping, WCIV reports.
Burham also has active warrants out of New York for rape and is the suspect in an open homicide investigation, police told WCIV.
