FBI: Same robber hit Bucktown, Irving Park neighborhood banks Wednesday

The same man was being sought in two bank robberies Wednesday afternoon in Chicago, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

The man attempted a robbery at a PNC bank in Bucktown located at 1955 N. Damen Ave., FBI spokeswoman Siobhan Johnson said in a news release.

Then, at 5:10 p.m., the same bank robber apparently struck again, this time at a Chase Bank in the Irving Park neighborhood.

The robber at the 3204 W. Irving Park Road bank “bore a strong resemblance to the suspect in the earlier robbery,” Johnson wrote.

The man used a note to demand money as he tried to rob the banks before fleeing on foot, Johnson said. No injuries were reported and the man did not show a weapon as he robbed the banks, she added.

FBI agents responded to both robberies, but have not yet apprehended the man, Johnson said.

According to the news release, he is white, around 5 feet 5 inches tall, has blonde hair and is 40 to 50 years old, and he wore a gray jacket, bluejeans and a blue surgical mask.
