FBI seeks suspect in three bank robberies east of ABQ

Jul. 20—ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Authorities say a man robbed three banks — two of them in one morning — over the past week in communities east of Albuquerque.

FBI spokesman Frank Fisher said the man robbed a bank in Moriarty and another in Tijeras Monday morning. He also is suspected of robbing another Moriarty bank last Thursday.

The man is described as Hispanic, around 5 feet 7 inches tall, with tattoos on his neck and forearm.

Fisher said around 9:30 a.m. on Monday the man walked into a U.S. Bank at 1401 U.S. Route 66 and gave the teller a demand note. He said the man was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

Fisher said, less than 45 minutes later, the same man walked into the Wells Fargo at 503 NM-333 and gave the teller a demand note. He said the man was given an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank.

During the two robberies, the man donned a blue NASA baseball cap with light-colored brim, a long-sleeve green shirt and a dark bandana over the lower half of his face.

Fisher said they believe the man is responsible for a bank robbery last week in Moriarty.

A man fitting the same description walked into a Wells Fargo at 901 U.S. Route 66 around 3 p.m. and gave a demand note to a teller. The man was given an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank.

During that robbery, the man was wearing a Gucci face mask, a long-sleeve blue shirt with a La Mesa RV logo, a baseball cap with a rainbow design, and dark green pants.
