The Boston FBI office is warning about thieves calling New England residents claiming to be a government official.
- A warning tonight from the FBI'S Boston office. Thieves are calling people across New England, claiming to be a government official. Then they're using intimidation or threats to get money.
Last year alone, there were more than 400 reports of government impersonation scams. Overall, scammers made off with $3.8 million. And the FBI says federal agencies will never call you or email you to threaten and arrest or to ask for money.
