FC BOYS: Western, S.C., Monroeville and St. Paul each win

Jan. 22—COLLINS — State-ranked Western Reserve again showed its deep scoring balance and remained unbeaten with Friday's 68-55 win over Crestview in a Firelands Conference matchup in Collins.

The Roughriders — ranked No. 4 in the latest Division III Associated Press state poll — had five players score eight or more points to improve to 14-0 overall and 10-0 in the FC.

Jude Muenz finished with 15 points and five rebounds to pace the 'Riders, who also got 14 points from Aiden Edwards and 12 points, six rebounds and five assists from Matt Jarrett 12.

Also for Western, Cam Hankins had 11 points and four assists, while Carson Roe just missed five players in double-figures with eight points.

The 'Riders led 17-11 after one quarter and 32-24 at halftime. They outscored the Cougars (6-7, 4-5) by six in the third quarter to pull away.

Western — which hosts Edison (2-12) on Saturday night — was 27-of-50 shooting for the game, including 7-of-18 from the three-point line.

South Central 42, Plymouth 34

PLYMOUTH —The Trojans overcame a 13-point first half to outscore the host Big Red by 10 points in the second half to maintain second place in the FC.

Plymouth (4-10, 1-8) led 15-13 at halftime, only to see South Central (12-2, 9-1) outscore it by a 29-19 margin in the second half.

Isaac Blair paced the Trojans with 16 points. Sam Seidel added eight points and Hagen Adams scored seven.

For Plymouth, Zeth Goth and Trace McVey each scored seven points, while Clayton Miller added six.

The Trojans stay on the road Saturday with a high-powered non-league matchup with Margaretta (11-3). Plymouth travels to Danbury for a back-to-back.

St. Paul 37, New London 34

NEW LONDON — St. Paul made all five of its free throws attempts in the fourth quarter and held off New London for an FC victory Friday night.

Michael Kirk led the Flyers (4-11, 3-7 FC) with 12 points. Kaden Maxwell added nine and Evan Wangler finished with eight.

Jamil Arnold led New London (0-13, 0-9) with 19 points. Conner Byrd added seven and Logan Wallace had six.

St. Paul trailed 29-28 after three quarters.

The Flyers play at Huron on Saturday night. New London returns to action Tuesday against Loudonville.

ORANGE TWP. — The Eagles improved to 11-2 overall and 8-2 in the FC with Friday's road win over the Mounties.

Monroeville is two games off the pace in the FC race with Friday's win.

Isaac Roeder and Jimmy Clingman each scored 25 points for the Eagles, who also got seven points from Aidan Goodwin.

Monroeville held a 14-9 lead after one quarter, but then outscored the Mounties by a 47-26 margin over the second and third quarters to pull away.

The Eagles are right back in action on Saturday night with a home matchup against Lakota.

OAK HARBOR — TJ Hallett made three 3-pointers and the Rockets steadily outscored the visiting Chargers in all four quarters of Friday's SBC Bay Division win.

Hallett finished with a game-high 20 points as the Rockets inched back over .500 at 8-7 overall (3-4 Bay). Ethan Stokes added 14 points and Keegan Durdel scored 13.

For Edison, which made seven 3s in the loss, Kayden Bourget scored 16 points, while Brady Barker added six.

The Chargers will have another tall task on Saturday night when they visit unbeaten Western Reserve. The Rockets are back in action Tuesday at home against St. Mary Central Catholic.
