All-FC: St. Paul's Stieber is Defensive Back of the Year

Nov. 16—St. Paul senior Will Stieber was voted the Defensive Back of the Year in the Firelands Conference, the league announced on Monday.

A senior inside linebacker who has been an All-Ohio first (2020) and third (2019) team selection, Stieber finished with 87 tackles (three for loss), one sack, one fumble recovery and four pass breakups during the nine-game regular season for the Flyers. The fumble recovery was returned 98 yards for a touchdown in a 10-0 win over Huron on Aug. 20 in the season opener.

Below is a breakdown of area selections to the All-FC list, which includes first, second and honorable mention teams.

St. Paul (10-2, 5-1)

Stieber was also a first team selection at running back after totaling 1,044 yards and 12 touchdowns in the regular season. He was joined on the first team on offense by senior tackle Zach Pocos and senior kicker Tyler Perkins, who made 29-of-33 extra points and three field goals in the regular season.

Pocos also joined Stieber on first team on the defensive line (36 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 FR), as did junior inside linebacker Quincey Crabbs, who led the team with 89 tackles (nine for loss) with a sack and a fumble recovery.

Perkins was also the first team punter once again after averaging 43.4 yards on 16 punts.

Earning second team offense for St. Paul was Crabbs at running back (785 yards, 9 TDs), junior center AJ Meyer and junior guard Andy Meyer. Lineman Logan Risner (27 tackles, 2 sacks), end Andy Meyer (65 tackles, 1 FR) and safety Eli Fisher (48 tackles, 2 interceptions) earned second team defense.

Seniors Kaden Maxwell (WR), Harley Stoll (TE), Aiden Naseman (DE) and Aidan Kusser (DB) were honorable mention.

Western Reserve (7-4, 3-3)

The Roughriders placed three players at five positions on the first team, led by two-way selection Jake Jarrett at receiver and defensive back.

Jarrett caught 48 passes for 710 yards with 8 TDs and made 37 tackles with three interceptions during the Western's nine-game regular season.

Senior Joey Yoder was first team as a guard on offense and on the line on defense, where he made 50 tackles (11 for loss) with a sack. Senior outside linebacker Carson Roe (58 tackles, 13 TFL, 1 iNT) was also on the first team.

Roe was second team at tight end (21 catches, 230 yards, 1 TD) along with senior offensive tackle Charlie Missler, while junior linebacker Rhett Grose (55 tackles, 1 FR) and junior DB Jake Elkin (87 tackles, 6 TFL) were second team defensive selections.

Seniors Jude Muenz (QB), Andy Robinson (DL) and Aiden Beck (DB) were honorable mention along with junior center Preston Ehrnsberger.

Monroeville (3-8, 2-4)

Senior Isaac Roeder earned first team honors for the Eagles at defensive back (91 tackles, 1 INT) and was second team at quarterback (926 yards, 6 TDs; 1,080 rushing yards, 12 TDs).

Senior center Duncan Steward was also first team on offense for Monroeville, which also had senior running back Brayden Schuller (904 yards, 11 TDs) and senior inside linebacker Cody Stewart (43 tackles, 1 sack, 2 INTs) on the second team.

Earning honorable mention for Monroeville included sophomore guards Isaac Clingman and Kole Ackerman, and freshmen Landen Roeder (OLB) and Evan Benfer (DB).

Plymouth (5-5, 2-4)

Two-way junior standout Shea Sparks was first team at both running back (1,202 yards, 19 TDs) and defensive back for the Big Red.

Earning second team for Plymouth included junior Caiden Allen at both receiver and punter, and junior Caleb Porter at offensive tackle and defensive line.

Junior Trace McVey (RB), senior Carter Charlton (DL), senior Shawn English (OLB) and senior Clayton Miller (DB) were honorable mention.

South Central (3-7, 1-5)

Senior receiver Carson Music was voted to the first team for the Trojans after totaling 60 catches for 782 yards and 8 TDs in the regular season.

Earning second team was junior receiver Hagen Adams (35 catches, 607 yards, 10 TDs), junior linebacker Braden Kiesel (128 tackles, 3 sacks) and senior defensive back Kayden Hauler (71 tackles, 1 INT).

Honorable mention choices for South Central included senior Trey Beverly (RB) and juniors Brandon Mitchell (QB), Brandon Smith (DL) and Gage Lauderman (ILB).
