"I couldn't have been happier with these kids tonight," St. Paul head coach Nancy Miller said. "They have worked so hard in the preseason, and with the fact that we basically have replaced every kid on the floor — we have just two kids who played at all last year with Ella and Kristin. Every other kid is new to the varsity, and I couldn't have been more pleased with their intensity and energy level."

St. Paul is off until next week when it visits New London on Tuesday and then entertains Western Reserve on Sept. 1.

Miller said Tuesday's win was one her team can build on.

"I saw them controlling their emotions and not letting their nerves get the best of them," she said. "We've grown so much in many areas, but just the improvement we see day in and day out shows they are such a hard working group."
