Fear the Walking Dead's fifth season is shuffling onto our screens soon, and it's going to mix things up.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss teased how the new season will be different from the last structurally (it will be less of a season of two halves) and take place a few months later.

"We're going to see that the group has gone to some pretty extreme measures to carry out their goals to help someone in need," Goldberg said.

"It's going to take them to an entirely new and strange and dangerous environment that they've never been to before. It may involve a plane, and we're going to see the difficulties that their mission presents, but also the internal things that our characters are dealing with that are maybe preventing them from fully living."

Woah woah woah. Rewind a bit there. A plane?

Normally we are so accustomed to our characters trekking slowly across the post-apocalyptic world without the methods of transportation we're used to, but if the gang get access to the working plane it may allow us to see so much more of the world and really open up the show.

It could even tie into Rick being carried off by a helicopter in his Walking Dead exit story. Honestly, there's so much they could do and the possibilities are *fascinating*.

But let's be honest, the plane will either not work or get destroyed by the end of the episode.

Season five will also feature Dwight crossing over from the main show, and the showrunners have teased that we will find out if he was able to achieve what Daryl asked him to do.

The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead air on AMC in the US and FX in the UK.
