Fearing counterattack into Russia, invaders destroy bridge in Sumy Oblast, governor says

Zhyvytskyi said the Russian military was afraid that the Ukrainian army would launch a counteroffensive in Russia.

"The bridge has been completely destroyed,” he said. “As we can see, this bridge just leads towards Russia. Obviously, they’re afraid that an attack from the territory of Ukraine on Russia is already possible.”

Zhyvytskyi said that Russian troops within Russia itself are strengthening their positions, digging trenches and building bases. However, he said that the enemy was not forming an offensive group.

He also said that the intensity of shelling in Sumy Obaslt has increased in recent days. The Russians are firing artillery and conducting air strikes.

On the night of May 13, Russia launched two missile strikes on Sumy Oblast.

According to the North Operational Command, the border town of Ochkino was in the attack.
