CHILLICOTHE— Last month over 35 building permit reports were filed in the area. These projects range from new roofing and signage to an entirely new building. The report shows many changes and improvements headed this way.

The most expensive project from last month is the $5 million creation of new warehouse, offices and training facilities for Goodwill Industries on Industrial Drive in Chillicothe. Jona Ison from the Goodwill of South Central Ohio said the new facility will help bring all the different operations in the area to one central location. It will also allow the company to stop renting warehouse space and use the building on Western Avenue, which currently houses offices, to be fully used for childcare. The move-in date for the new building is expected to be late this year or early next year.

New lodging is also expected to come to 454 North Shawnee Lane in Chillicothe. The land will become a Townplace Suites hotel creating more rooms for visitors to stay at while visiting the city. LHG Chillicothe LLC, the owner of this project bought the land from Chillicothe Bowling Lanes, Inc in September of last year, according to public records.

Other projects in the Chillicothe jurisdiction include 19 permits for roofing at Autumn Woods Condos, installation of building signs at The Postmark and installation of a new non-illuminated sign to be mounted to the face of the former Chillicothe Gazette building.

In Pike County, a request was filed for an addition of a shelter house at Pine Lake Campground. In Piketon, a request was made for the replacement of the existing grandstand at the Pike County Fairgrounds. In Waverly, the Ohio Valley Bank requested conditional approval for a remodel and improvements to the facility on East Emmitt Avenue. The Pike County Government Center also put in a permit request for new antifreeze sprinklers.
