Federal government uses defense production act for the third time this week

The federal government is invoking the defense production act, the third time this week, to allow food company Cargill to deliver raw ingredients to maximize infant formula production. This comes as baby formula maker Abbott plans to restart production at its closed facility on June 4. Parents are still desperate to feed their children as the current out-of-stock rate for formula skyrocketed to 70 percent, last week.
