Federal grants provide $4 million to In2Action to reduce recidivism, substance misuse

Columbia-based In2Action, a transitional and substance use program for those recently released from incarceration, is celebrating major federal grant awards.

Grants from the Adult Reentry Enhancement Project and Treatment Court Enhancement Project total $4 million, In2Action said in a news release Monday.

"This significant investment will undoubtedly make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve and reinforce our dedication to creating a healthier, more vibrant, and safer community for all," In2Action said. "We look forward to the transformative results that will emerge from these vital initiatives."

The University of Missouri also will evaluate the success and impact of In2Action's programs.

The AREP program "aims to curtail substance misuse and reduce recidivism while simultaneously bolstering employment opportunities and increasing recovery capital among justice-involved males in Boone County," In2Action said.

The TREP program is meant to improve outcomes and success rates for those in the 13th Judicial Circuit Treatment Court.
