Federal Stimulus Debit Cards Arrive In Napa: What To Know
NAPA COUNTY, CA — The Napa County District Attorney's Office lately has received several calls from residents with questions about the federal government's Economic Impact Payments —EIP — made via pre-paid debit cards.
Congress recently approved EIPs as part of a stimulus package for eligible households. While many people will receive their EIP as a direct deposit to their bank, the U.S. Department of the Treasury plans to issue approximately 8 million EIPs in the form of a prepaid Visa debit card.
Napa residents can check the status of their EIP payment through the IRS website.
For residents receiving the EIP Card, pictures of what the envelope and debit card look like can be found on the Treasury's website. The cards are sent in a white envelope that prominently displays the U.S. Department of the Treasury seal. The front side of the card has the Visa name, while the name of the issuing bank, MetaBank, is on the back of the card. The card is mailed with instructions on how to securely activate and use it.
