FedEx finishes 250,000-foot shipping center in Montgomery County

The construction company behind the project confirmed this week that work on a new 250,000-square-foot FedEx distribution and logistics center in Montgomery is finished.

Doster Construction Company first broke ground on the project in 2022. The relocation will bring 150 jobs to the community, according to a news release from Doster. Early estimates expected the project to cost about $52 million.

FedEx is moving from its existing facility on Bill Joseph Parkway to 120 Folmar Parkway. The new center will have twice the package volume of the Bill Joseph facility, according to the news release.

The new center is down the street from the Bill Joseph facility and stands on 46 acres inside the Montgomery Water and Sewer Boards’ Interstate Industrial Park.

“FedEx’s continued investment in Montgomery showcases our essential role in global logistics and solutions for major industries. We look forward to building on this long-standing partnership and creating new opportunities for growth, development and prosperity,” Mayor Steven Reed said in a news release in June 2022.

The Montgomery Advertiser previously reported that the city first issued a building permit for the project in February 2022 for $30 million worth of work.

This project marked the third FedEx distribution center announced in Alabama.
