Feds ask to revoke McAlester man's probation

Jan. 5—Federal prosecutors are asking for a McAlester's man probation to be revoked after he was alleged to have held two people at gunpoint in November.

Darryl Bickham Jr., 40, is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service and was scheduled to be arraigned in federal court for revocation proceedings Thursday.

Court records show Bickham was serving a three-year supervised sentence after his February 2023 release from federal prison.

Bickham was sentenced to 60-months incarceration after pleading guilty in 2018 to a federal indictment of felon in possession of firearm and ammunition.

Court records show the U.S. Probation Office recommended a federal judge to issue a warrant for Bickham's arrest after the office was made aware of a November incident involving Bickham and two handguns.

The recommendation states Bickham is accused in an incident report filed by the McAlester Police Department of aggravated assault and battery, preventing a 911 call, and kidnapping. The report alleges Bickham pushed his way into a home and pulled out two handguns and held two people at gunpoint for approximately two hours.

According to the probation office's report, an affidavit for an arrest warrant was submitted to the District Court of Pittsburg County with no warrant issued as of the date the recommendation was filed in federal court.

Records show U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White agreed with the probation office's recommendation and ordered the issuance of a warrant for Bickham's arrest in December.

Bickham faces up to three years in federal prison if his probation is revoked.

The man was originally indicted in 2018 on counts of felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of firearm and ammunition by prohibited person in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Bickham was indicted after a traffic stop in August 2018 by McAlester Police officers in which Bickham was a passenger in the vehicle, court documents state. Documents state when officers conducted a search of the vehicle, they located a 9 mm Ruger pistol inside the passenger door along with additional rounds of ammunition.
