Feds offer $5,000 reward for man they say burned woman's body after slaying in Ypsilanti

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for tips leading to the arrest of a man wanted in connection with the killing of a Washtenaw County woman whose body was burned after being thrown into the trunk of a car last year.

The 21-year-old woman's body was found on the east side of Detroit in November after residents called 911 to report a burning car in the street, according to the marshals.

Two suspects tied to the homicide have already been arrested and are in custody, the marshals said, though a third man remains missing: 28-year-old Bashid Bristol-Davis, of Belleville. Authorities say he helped place the body in the trunk on Nov. 11, 2022, then drove to Detroit and set both the car and body on fire.

Wanted man 'armed and dangerous' with a criminal history

It is not known which of the three men killed the woman — or how she was killed — only that all three are tied to the homicide, according to the marshals.

“Bashid Bristol-Davis is accused of a serious offense which demonstrates a clear disregard for the law,” Owen Cypher, U.S. marshal for the Eastern District of Michigan, said in a statement. “We will use every resource at our disposal to bring him to justice.”

The marshals stressed: "He is armed and dangerous."

He's also not new to law enforcement.

Victim was a 21-year-old woman

According to court records and Livonia police, Bristol-Davis was arrested in Livonia in 2016 for a string of gun store break-ins. He was charged in Wayne County Circuit Court with breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, and receiving and concealing stolen property. He served nearly 20 months in prison in that case, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Little information is known about the victim in the murder case tied to Bristol-Davis. According to the marshals, the victim is 21-year-old Patricia Fowler — though there are no details about her death, or why she was killed.

Ypsilanti police said the case is being handled by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office. Officials there could not be reached for comment.

If you have information on the whereabouts of Bristol-Davis, contact the U.S. Marshals Service tip line at 866-865-TIPS (8477), submit a tip online via the USMS Tips App or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
