Feed your face and help Toms River schools at Friday downtown outdoor dining fundraiser
TOMS RIVER - Dine out and drink in downtown Friday night and you'll be helping raise funds for Toms River Regional schools.
The Toms River Education Foundation fundraiser begins at 5 p.m. Aug. 11.
A portion of the proceeds from downtown restaurants, including Capone's Gourmet Pizza & Pasta, A Thyme for All Seasons, Safu Sushi DTR, Battle River Brewing Co. and Garden State Distillery, will be contributed to the fundraiser, which will be part of the weekly Downtown Night Out festivities.

A portion of Washington Street is closed each Friday and Saturday night in the warmer weather months to allow outdoor dining and drinking.
The education foundation raises money for extracurricular activities at the Toms River Regional schools. The group was formed in 2020 in response to repeated cuts to the school district's state aid funding under the new New Jersey school funding formula, know as S2.

The group's aim is to make sure all of Toms River Regional's more than 14,000 students will continue to have the chance to participate in extracurricular activities, including sports and clubs, in spite of the funding cuts.
