Weather locally and across southeast Louisiana will go from one extreme to another over the next few days, forecasters say.
High temperatures through Friday will hover around 80 degrees with lows around 70, according to the National Weather Service. That's well above the average high of 64 and average low of 44 for this time of year.
But that will change Saturday.
"Another round of showers and thunderstorms rolls in Saturday with our next cold front," WWL-TV meteorologist Payton Malone said in a forecast Wednesday. "This front looks pretty impressive as it brings the coldest weather yet this season. Temperatures will fall quickly during the day. We'll start Monday with wind chills in the 20s and 30s."
On Sunday, Houma-Thibodaux's high temperature will reach 55 degrees with the low that night at 33, the National Weather Service forecasts.
That will drive the low temperature nearly 40 degrees below those recorded locally over the past few days.
