WalletHub recently released its list of the best winter holiday destinations, comparing 69 of the largest cities in the United States. The rankings weighed factors like cost, ease of travel, attractions, weather and safety.

Here are five of the best warm-weather destinations that have direct flights from Des Moines.

3. Austin, Texas

According to Visit Austin, the city has vibrant entertainment, art and culture, inspiring cuisine and a stunning outdoors experience. Considered the live music capital of the world, there's always something happening in Austin.
