Felicity Huffman released from prison after 11 days
Felicity Huffman is out of prison a few days early.
The Desperate Housewives star, who was sentenced to 14 days behind bars for her role in the college admissions scam, was released Friday after serving 11 days, NBC News reports, writing that the early release is "normal policy for inmates who are set to be released on weekends, according to a prison official." TMZ had previously reported the actress was set to be released after 13 days on Oct. 27, a Sunday, because "when she was initially arrested at her home, taken in and booked, that counts as one day toward completing her sentence."
Huffman pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud after prosecutors said she paid $15,000 to have her daughter's SAT answers corrected. Huffman has said her daughter was not aware of her actions, also saying in a statement she is "ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community." She served her time at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, and was also sentenced to a year of supervised release and 250 hours of community service.
Yet to be sentenced in the college admissions scandal is actress Lori Loughlin, who is accused of paying to have her daughters falsely designated as rowing recruits to get into college and has pleaded not guilty. She was recently hit with an additional charge in the case.
