Felina Steak restaurant takes over Terra e Mare space in Jersey City

Felina Steak, a steakhouse version of Italian restaurant Felina in Ridgewood, has taken over the space at Terra e Mare, the sleek one-year-old chophouse on the shores of the Hudson River in Jersey City, as a rebrand.

Landmark Hospitality, the events management company that owns a slew of restaurants in New Jersey including The Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station, Village Hall in South Orange and Liberty House in Jersey City, owns both Felina Restaurant and Terra e Mare, which is housed in the Hudson House, a weddings venue and restaurant space with breathtaking views of the New York City skyline.

"Felina Steak is old-school Italian meets steakhouse," said Joseph Tartamella, who took over the kitchen at Felina early this year. Felina's acclaimed four-star founding chef Anthony Bucco left in October 2019 and was replaced first by Flavia Amaral of Let's Meat Steakhouse in River Vale, then Carlos Valdez, opening chef of The Oceanaire in Hackensack, then Massimo Sola, a Michelin star chef from Italy.

Matteo Limoli, a native of Italy, will head the kitchen of Felina Steak as he has Terre e Mare, whose opening chef chef was David C. Felton, the founding chef of Ninety Acres in Peapack-Gladston and a former executive chef of Pluckemin Inn in Bedminster.

Limoli and Tartamella have collaborated on the menu of Felina Steak, Tartamella said.

Among them are his crisky skin salmon, chicken Milanese, fried calamari, arancini, burrta and eggplant caponata and potato-crusted cod.

Tartamella said that Landmark Hospitality is trying to grow the Felina brand. It recently opened a small shop in Newark Airport's Terminal A.

Jeanne Cretella, president and co-owner of Landmark Hospitality, said: "To us, Felina is synonymous with community. With the concept’s success in Ridgewood and the Newark Liberty International Airport, we wanted to expand to bring the same sense of community to the Jersey City area."
