Felon, 68, arrested on suspicion of forcibly taking toddler from grandmother in Victorville.

A 68-year-old felon was arrested on suspicion of forcibly taking a toddler from her grandmother’s arms at a home in Victorville.

The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station reported that at 7 p.m. on Friday, deputies responded to a 911 call in the 13500 block of Camellia Road in Victorville.

Deputies discovered that Curtis Weaver was in an argument with his roommate, who was holding her 3-year-old granddaughter.

Weaver allegedly grabbed the child out of her arms and barricaded himself in his room, sheriff’s officials said.

The child and Weaver were not related, and he did not have permission to take her.

During that time, two other people at the house entered the barricaded room and attempted to remove the child from Weaver, who brandished a handgun and ordered them to leave.

After a brief standoff with deputies, Weaver was eventually taken into custody without incident. The child was uninjured.

A search warrant was authored for the residence, where sheriff’s officials discovered a loaded, un-serialized, 9mm Glock pistol and narcotics inside Weaver’s bedroom.

Weaver was booked at High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on suspicion of false imprisonment, possession of a controlled substance while armed and felon in possession of a firearm.

Weaver’s bail is set at $500,000 and he is scheduled to appear on Tuesday in Victorville Superior Court.
