‘Felt a little in the dark’: AT&T customers react to nationwide service outage

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) – It’s very rare nowadays that people go without using their phones for several hours at a time, but on Thursday, AT&T customers were forced to do so, following a nationwide outage.

“I felt a little in the dark,” AT&T customer, Tucker Wilson, said.

AT&T customers were left puzzled by the sudden service outage.

AT&T says wireless network restored after widespread outage hit users across US

“I didn’t really know what that meant,” Wilson said. “But I definitely went on my phone and some texts weren’t sending. I went on Instagram or YouTube and things weren’t loading.”

Wilson says he checks the weather app on his phone as he gets dressed each morning, but he wasn’t able to so.

“I am a little cold today,” he said. “So I could’ve prepared for that if I had better service.”

The outage also affected Caleb Morato’s morning routine.

“Trying to play some music,” Morato said. “I usually like to listen to something to just ground me for the day. Then, after just trying to press play, nothing was working. Even the network connectivity went out, and I was like, ‘Well, I can’t do anything now.’”

Both customers say they plan to stick with AT&T, but they could make a switch if similar outages keep happening.

“Hopefully it doesn’t happen again,” Wilson said. “They still have my support for now. We’ll see where it goes in the future.”

Morato said he does not mind the disruption.

“They happen and I just move on, but if it keeps happening in the future then I’ll be like, ‘Okay, this is definitely something to keep in mind,’” he explained.

An AT&T representative tells DC News Now that they have now restored wireless service to all of their affected customers the following afternoon.
