Felt Mansion's Winterfest kicks off holiday tours, events

LAKETOWN TWP. — An afternoon of holiday cheer drew hundreds to Laketown Township’s Felt Mansion on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The annual Winterfest ran from 9-11 a.m. at Felt Mansion, 6597 138th Ave. in Laketown. It was sponsored by the Laketown Township Parks and Recreation Commission.

The free event featured a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, music by the Dickens Carolers from the Holland Chorale, free goodie bags for children, face painting, a live reindeer display from the Reindeer Ranch of Kalamazoo, and horse-drawn wagon rides.

Winterfest serves as a kickoff to holiday events at Felt Mansion. Those interested in touring the historic property, which is decorated for the season, will have plenty of opportunities leading up to the holidays.

On Wednesdays, Dec. 6, 12 and 20, the mansion will host Tea and Tours from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a hot cup of tea from antique and vintage teacups and a self-guided tour of the mansion. The cost is $25 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. Children 10 and under are free.

Regular self-guided tours are available 4-8 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 7, 14 and 21. The cost is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and students or $50 for a family rate. Children 10 and under are free.

On Fridays, Dec. 8, 15 and 22, the center will host Candlelight Tours from 6-8 p.m. Attendees can explore the mansion with a hand-held electronic candle. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students or $60 for a family rate. Children 10 and under are free.

Coffee and Cocoa Tours are available Sundays, Dec. 10 and 17. Along with a self-guided tour those days, attendees can participate in a holiday scavenger hunt. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students or $60 for a family rate. Children 10 and under are free.

The mansion asks visitors to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to closing to allow enough time to take the tour. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit feltmansion.org. Free self-guided tour passes are not accepted during Christmas tours.
