New FEMA center opens in Houma

A FEMA disaster recovery center has been opened in Houma to help survivors affected by Hurricane Ida.

Residents can get help with their disaster assistance applications, upload documents and have their questions about federal disaster assistance answered at the centers.

FEMA specialists at the newly opened 107 Robert St. location are available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.

The recovery center is just north of the East Park Recreation Center in a large tent.

The FEMA center at the Lafourche Parish Government Complex at 4876 La. 1 in Mathews will also remain open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

All centers follow COVID-19 precautions and masks are required.
