FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Golden Meadow to close today

The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at the Geaux Pass Service Center in Golden Meadow will close at 5 p.m. today, the agency said.

The center will relocate to aid additional survivors in other locations affected by Hurricane Ida.

Residents of all parishes affected by Hurricane Ida can continue to visit a number of other centers open in Louisiana. To locate a center, check the FEMA app or visit FEMA.gov/DRC. All centers follow COVID-19 precautions. Masks are required for employees, volunteers and survivors.

The FEMA Helpline for disaster survivors will be unavailable Thursday in observance of Thanksgiving. The Helpline will resume normal operating hours on Friday from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m., seven days a week.

Hurricane Ida survivors can still register for assistance on Thanksgiving Day, and every day, online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by using the FEMA app.

Remember, the last day to register for individual assistance is Monday, Nov. 29.
