FEMA is offering free mitigation advice to help Floridians rebuild from Hurricane Nicole and Hurricane Ian.

The agency will have mitigation specialists at the Home Depot, 2000 Eighth St. NW, in Winter Haven from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Mitigation is an effort to reduce the loss of life and property damage by lessening the impact of a disaster, FEMA said in a news release. The information is geared for do-it-yourself work and general contractors.

Hurricane Nicole and Hurricane Ian survivors may also call the FEMA Mitigation Line to speak with mitigation specialists at 833-336-2487. The line is available Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
