Ferrari unveiled their new car via an online event on Tuesday as they make another attempt to end a long Formula One title drought in the 2024 season before next year's arrival of Lewis Hamilton.

Top driver Charles Leclerc named the SF-24 car with the traditional red livery "definitely a step forward" in their bid to break the dominance of Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team.

Ferrari have not won a title since the 2008 constructors' crown, with the last drivers' title, from Kimi Raikkönen, dating back another year to 2007.

Last year's car was fast but lacked race pace as Leclerc finished fifth and Carlos Sainz seventh. Sainz got their lone season victory in Singapore, the only 2023 race not won by Red Bull.

Sainz will have to give way for the seven-time world champion Hamilton next year in a major move from Mercedes who ruled the sport before Red Bull.

Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur did not want to make any predictions but said that "we must start off where we left off at the end of last season, when we were consistent front runners, with a view to constantly improving in all areas.

"The longest ever Formula 1 season awaits us and Charles, Carlos and I all agree, we must be more clinical and effective in how we manage the races, making bold choices, in order to get the best possible result at every Grand Prix," he said.

Ferrari presented the car via video from their Maranello headquarters and said that the SF-24 will be easier and more predictable to drive than past models.

A first indication will be next week's three days of pre-season testing in Bahrain, where the season then also starts on March 2.
