Festival food aplenty this weekend and Ocean Wok news sparks joy

Coming off the most beautiful Memorial Day weekend in memory, Seacoast restaurants are in the thick of it with full tables outside and inside for the official kickoff of summer. And this summer is living up to all the hype with another warm, dry weekend stretch on tap.

This weekend, it's Piscataqua Riverfest on Saturday in Prescott Park and at Strawbery Banke from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., celebrating our rivers and their importance in our collective heritage and our lives today, and plenty of local food. Nearby in the park, the Prescott Park Arts Festival is hosting a Summer Social from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring ice cream until it runs out, Prop treats from the park's concession stand and family-friendly games and activities. Up the coast, Ogunquit Pride is celebrating that community's LGBTQ+ Pride Month from June 1 to 5 with lots of events and food. Dover will be rockin' on Saturday with the 10th annual Maker Fest hosted by the Children's Museum in and around Henry Law Park, featuring local food makers, too.

This week, we learned that that the former owner of the extremely popular Ocean Wok restaurant in Hampton Beach is returning to run the restaurant and return it to its former glory. Diners rejoiced when we published the news and you will, too, next time you're down at the beach. Up at The Ridge in Rochester, a sister restaurant of the popular 110 Grill chain, Evviva Trattoria, is slated to open in December.

And we're here to proclaim Gilley's in Portsmouth is open despite Fleet Street being changed to one-way traffic for a city project. Make a point to pay them a visit while the project is ongoing this summer.

We also learned a foodie favorite, the Kittery Block Party, will return on June 18. Something to look forward to along with NOBO opening soon.
