Somerset football tickets
Reserved seats for the Somerset Golden Eagle 2023 football season went on sale Aug. 1, in the athletic office of the Somerset Area School District. Lifetime Senior Citizen passes are available to anyone aged 62 and older and are good for all regular season home events. To obtain a pass, participant must reside in the Somerset Area School District. Lifetime Military Passes are available to anyone who served or is currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. The pass entitles the holder to admission to all regular season home events. To obtain a pass, participant must reside in the Somerset Area School District and have proof of service.
Dunkin' Brew Crew
Dunkin' of Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania launching community give-back program Dunkin’ Brew Crew: Top Pours Under 34 Program to recognize individuals between the ages of 18 and 34 who make or have made an impact in their communities through their contributions and entrepreneurial activities. Through Oct. 28, nominate a deserving member of the community for a chance to receive Free Coffee for a Year and a $1,000 grant toward their initiatives by visiting dunkinbrewcrew.com and follow the instructions to complete the registration form. Twenty grand prize winners in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania will be selected to receive Free Coffee for a Year and a $1,000 grant toward their initiatives. To participate, guests will craft an essay of 500 words or less, expressing why they believe their nominee deserves the Dunkin’ Brew Crew Award. The winners will be selected based on the nominee’s contributions to their community, accomplishments, and why they deserve to be recognized as a changemaker.

Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series
The Allegany Arts Council lineup for the 2023 Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series on the Festival Grounds at Canal Place, Cumberland, Maryland, at 6:30 p.m. each Thursday, through Aug. 3. Concerts in the Park Series
Ebensburg’s Concerts in the Park series will continue this year, from 6-9 p.m. at Penn Eben Park, 227 West High St. In addition to Penn Eben parking lot, the 100 block of north Julian Street will be closed so that attendees have even more room to spread out. Boswell Area Churches "Off" Street Fair
The Boswell Churches will be hosting the annual Street Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 5, at the Boswell Fireman's Grove, 201 Hower Ave., Boswell. The event is free other than the food. All food proceeds go back into community organizations. There will be hot sausage sandwiches, pigs in the blanket, haluski, hot dogs, walking tacos, pulled pork sandwiches and other foods and desserts. There is also a car show, live music and children's activities. The event will be held rain or shine.

Bushy Run Battlefield reenactment
The Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society 260th Anniversary Reenactment 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, Aug. 5-6, to commemorate the 1763 Battle of Bush Run, the pivotal 2-day battle in Pontiac's War between a coalition of Native Americans and British colonial forces. Re-enactors and living historians will portray the battle in force-on-force demonstrations, simulating volleys of musket fire and tactical movement on the battlefield. Some 18th century vendors and educators, referred to as sutlers, will be on site. Bushy Run will be operating a concession stand with food and drinks for sale. Jesus Day 2
The Light Team, a nondenominational nonprofit organization, is calling out to the local community to join them on "Jesus Day 2" at 6 p.m. Aug. 5, at the Paul E. Fuller Playground in Meyersdale, to sing, worship, and exalt the name of Jesus. The theme this year is "O for a thousand tongues to sing and pray!" The service will end with a bonfire prayer rally for revival. Bring a chair.
Music at Penn Alps
Continuing the 2023 season, Music at Penn Alps presents the West Virginia Brass Quintet at 7 p.m. Aug. 5, at the Village Church in Spruce Forest, Grantsville, Maryland. The West Virginia Brass Quintet’s repertoire spans five centuries of music, from Renaissance and Baroque to Contemporary to Dixieland Jazz with an emphasis on traditional American music.
Monday Movies on the Amphitheatre
The Community Arts Center of Cambria County (CACCC) will begin its first summer of Monday Movies on the Amphitheatre. Popcorn, snacks and refreshments will be available for an affordable price. All movies begin at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 7 Labyrinth (1986). A teen must rescue her baby brother from the Goblin King by solving his labyrinth. Aug. 14 Aladdin-animated (1992). Energetic musical based on the "Arabian Nights" tale. It's the story of a street urchin who discovers a magic lamp. Chairs provided or bring your own. All movies will be outdoors on CACCC’s amphitheatre, 1217 Menoher Boulevard, Johnstown. In case of inclement weather, movies will be moved indoors to the M. Josephine Paul Family Museum.

Angels of East Africa, Thunder in the City
The Angels of East Africa, 15th annual Thunder in the City event starts at 10 a.m. each day, Aug. 11-13. Angels of East Africa, 7368 Lincoln Highway, Central City, is a nonprofit charity started by the Machine Gun Preacher Sam Childers who has been rescuing children out of war zones in Eastern Africa for more than 25 years. The motorcycle rally and charity event is centered right off Route 30 near Central City, and the surrounding Somerset area. Sign in at 11 a.m. and kickstands up at 12.30 p.m. Cost includes lunch, with soda or coffee and evening dinner on return from ride. Proceeds raised are going to Angels of East to house, clothe, feed and educate children who have come out of a war zone areas in Eastern Africa. Vendors, flea market, live musical entertainment from Australia country rock legend, Steve Grace and Aaron Partridge, special guest celebrities, motorcycle high wire act, axe throwing, inflatables for children and adults, brewery, wine tasting, pony rides, tattoos, piercings, mechanical bull, face painting, rock climbing wall, animal show and more. At 10 a.m. Sunday, Childers will share his story about how God got a hold of him and took him to East Africa to save and rescue thousands of children.
Blood drive
The American Red Cross blood drive Aug. 11, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus, 536 Decker Ave., Johnstown, is in honor of Dan Hutchison, a dedicated blood donor for years until he found himself in need of lifesaving donations as he suffers from blood loss and other medical conditions. In his lifetime, Hutchison donated approximately three gallons of blood to help patients in need, and he has received nearly 30 units of blood through transfusions during his medical treatments. Hutchison encourages the Johnstown community to give to ensure blood is on the shelves for patients like him. The goal is to collect 22 units of blood at this drive. Annual "Harvest Market Dinner and Dance"
Farm-to-table foodies and music fans annual picnic-style Harvest Market Dinner and Dance will be held outdoors from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 12, on the market grounds at the LWA Farm, located just off West Main Street, Springer Road, and Route 30 in Ligonier Township. Co-sponsored by the Ligonier Country Market (LCM) and Loyalhanna Watershed Association (LWA). Laurel Highlands residents and visitors can purchase a wide, a la carte selection of locally prepared foods and beverages that LCM vendors will create to celebrate the farm-to-table lifestyle, which supports local farmers and food producers. A highlight of this year’s event will be music by Bon Journey, an acclaimed Pittsburgh-area and national musical act paying tribute to the songs of renowned rock bands Journey and Bon Jovi. "The Golden Girls Say I Do," presented by Iron Bridge Dinner Theatre is 7 p.m. Aug. 12, in the M. Josephine Paul Family Museum on the first floor of Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Boulevard, in the Westmont section of Johnstown. Join the fabulous four as they race the clock to see who will be the first to say those ever popular words. Dorothy, Sophia, Blanche and Rose are all realizing life is too short, but which one of these will make it through to the finish line and say "I Do" in the dating game. In this interactive comedy show, audiences will enjoy participating in the dating, courting and proposal process. Tickets come with refreshments and assorted desserts during the show. Milford Church annual picnic
Milford Church will host its annual picnic from 3:30-7 p.m. Aug. 12, at the church grove. The meal will feature hot roast beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes, filling and gravy. Hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, desserts and ice cream also available. There will be entertainment between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Groups include three A’s and a J (vocal group), Dennis Wright (piano selections), Heart & Soul (barbershop quartet) and Just Friends (autoharp/guitar/mandolin/harmonica). Antiques & Collectibles
The Hanna’s Town Antiques & Collectors Market is held the second Sunday of each month through October. The gate opens at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, and the market continues through early afternoon, although some vendors are set up by 1 p.m. Saturday and sell that afternoon. There is parking on site. Future dates for 2023 are Aug. 13, Sept. 10, and Oct. 8. Proceeds benefit the Westmoreland Historical Society’s education and preservation projects at Historic Hanna’s Town, a Revolutionary War period settlement and site of the first English courts west of the Allegheny Mountains. Historical House Tour
Learn some Meyersdale history, as Meyersdale Public Library Archivist Jennifer Hurl and Foy family historian Randall Frye lead a tour Aug. 16, of the historical Olinger/Foy home at 125 Broadway St., built in 1869-'70 by John M. Olinger (grandson of 1776 original area settler John Olinger) and later owned by Col. George L. Foy. Learn about the individuals who have resided inside. Some of Colonel Foy's paintings will be on display. This event is hosted by current owners Vickie and Gene Brown, to benefit the library and its patrons, prior to the home changing hands. The monthly Ligonier Night Market is around The Diamond and along Main Street in historic downtown Ligonier. Food products from more than 30 local farmers and food processors. Night Market added last year to sell their hand-made goods and products ― ranging from unique woodcrafts to original artwork and more. The Ligonier Country Market (LCM) and the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce co-sponsor the Night Market, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month through September (Aug. 17, and Sept. 21). Musical entertainment schedule: artists will perform on the Diamond Park bandstand: Aug. 17: Detention; Sept. 21: Cashout. The Learning Lamp and Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children, PennAEYC, launched a free summer professional development series. The monthly workshops take place through August via Zoom. The sessions meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. School-age professionals including child care staff, teachers, program directors and summer camp staff are encouraged to attend. Back to School Bash and Cruise-In
Christmas in the Park Back to School Bash for the community starts at 1 p.m. Aug. 20, at Central City Park, 699 Chestnut St., Central City. There will be a parade featuring classic cars and groups are participating by decorating their cars. There will be crafters, food, bubble tea and the Good Times Ice Cream Truck, and the band 3rd Avenue. The event will feature a basket raffle and an 18 foot waterslide and 40 foot inflatable zipline as well as free haircuts for the children, back to school supplies and games as well. The classic cars will be on display as well as some some surprise guests. Cruise-In line up at 12:30 p.m. at the PNA, 921 Main St., Central City. Classic cars, motorcycles and floats welcome. Parade starts at 1 p.m.

Seven Springs Wine Fest
All things Pennsylvania wine will be celebrated Aug. 25-27, at the 30th annual Seven Springs Wine Festival. Each year, Seven Springs and the Pennsylvania Wine Association partner to bring together wineries from across Pennsylvania. This year’s event will feature nearly 25 wineries including Bella Terra Vineyards, Cellar ‘54, Happy Valley Vineyard & Winery, King View Meadery, Starr Hill Winery, and Wine O’Clock Somewhere Winery. Friday night’s festivities will celebrate the event’s creation with a “Party Like It’s 1993” theme with entertainment headlined by the band Old Skool from 7-9 p.m. Guests are encouraged to don their vintage 90s attire like shoulder pads, baby-doll dresses, slouch socks, track suits, grunge gear, denim jackets, and more. Two wine seminars will be held Saturday and Sunday of the event. The Seven Springs culinary team will host “Cooking with Wine” and Black Dog Wine Company will host “Wine Tasting Like A Pro.” Ticket sales are available online and may also be available at the event gate. Admission to the festival includes a souvenir wine glass, samples from up to 25 Pennsylvania wineries, music on multiple stages, access to wine seminars on Saturday and Sunday, and complimentary wine check service for purchases made from attending wineries. The Seven Springs Wine Festival is open only to guests aged 21 and up.
Highlands Health Annual Fundraising Concert
The Highlands Health Annual Fundraising Concert features Melvin Seals & JGB, with special guests Ron Holloway and FlowerChild, Aug. 26, at People's Natural Gas Park, Johnstown. Melvin Seals concert starts at 8:30 p.m. He played with Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, for 18 years. Ron Holloway, a tenor saxophonist, played with The Warren Hay Band and Dizzy Gillespie.
