BATTLE CREEK - For the 15th year, sledders and spectators returned to Leila Arboretum for the annual Festivus Cardboard Sled Competition on Saturday afternoon.

The competition, hosted by the Battle Creek Metropolitan Area Moustache Society, requires that sleds be constructed solely from cardboard, paint, and adhesives.

Children and adults alike brought dozens of cardboard creations to the sledding hill while hundreds of spectators looked on with hot dogs, chili, hot chocolate, beer and other beverages from local vendors.

Due to unseasonably warm temperatures, snow was trucked in to build the route.

Despite the uncooperative weather, participants made their way down the snowy hill and across the finish line. Awards were given for best run, most "stachetastic" (most mustache-themed), Leila's choice (best children-themed sled), worst run and best wipeout.
