A few ways to beat the heat in and around Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK — It's going to be a warm week, folks.

Temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees or above on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with heat indexes nearing triple digits, according to the National Weather Service.

With this in mind, here are a few places to cool off — and make a splash — in and around Battle Creek:

Willard Beach

The public beach at Goguac Lake is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $2 per person, or $5 for vehicles with three or more people.

Flash Flood Water Park

The water park at 35 W. Hamblin Ave. is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. It features two, 200-foot water slides, zero depth entry pools and a water playground, among other attractions. General admission is $12; children 2 and younger are free.

Wet Safari Splash Pad

The free-to-use splash pad at Claude Evans Park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and includes a 17-foot tall giraffe, zebra water cannons and a sprinkling palm tree.

Fort Custer Recreation Area

5163 Fort Custer Drive in Augusta, features a beach area for swimming at Eagle Lake, and visitors can also rent canoes, kayaks and paddle boards.
