Fall is upon us.

Sure, temperatures are expected to reach the low 80s next week, but the cooler morning air and transitioning leaves will remind you that it's time to break out the flannel, warm up the apple cider and enjoy all southwest Michigan has to offer during this season.

Here are just a few ways to enjoy autumn in southwest Michigan:

Get lost (in a corn maze)

Gull Meadow Farms: This sprawling farm at 8544 Gull Road in Richland annually turns its six-acre cornfield into both a canvas and an elaborate maze. This year, the farm is using its corn maze as a platform to raise awareness and spur donations to the First Day Shoe Fund, which provides new athletic shoes to students in Kalamazoo County at no cost. Gull Meadow also offers a miniature corn maze with a smaller footprint of minimal twists and turns. Activity hours at Gull Meadow Farms are from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 4 to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Other attractions offered at Gull Meadow include a zipline, cannons that shoot pumpkins and apples and giant yard games. For more information, visit gullmeadowfarms.com.

Bosserd Family Farm: Located at 14721 Verona Road in Marshall, this farm hosts "Fall Family Fun" each autumn, featuring a straw climb, a scavenger hunt, a zipline, a tube slide and a corn maze. The farm is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. seven days a week.  Admission is $10 per child and $3 for accompanying adults ($5/adult without children).

Admire the creativity, humor of 'Skeleton Fest'

More than 60 skeletons donned in spooky and often hilarious costumes have descended upon downtown Marshall for the month of October. The Halloween-themed festival begins with a kick-off party at 1 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot near the post office and will include live music, face painting, food trucks, a giant slide, games and more.
