FGCU and FSW closed Tuesday due to Tropical Storm Idalia

Fall semester at FGCU has begun with highlights on students moving in to campus dorms, the changes being seen on campus safety wise and the budget realities for what's to come.

Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Southwestern University and Rasmussen University will be closed on Tuesday due to Tropical Storm Idalia.

FGCU will be operating remotely on Tuesday and will announce operational plans for Wednesday by 3 p.m. Tuesday.

FSW has cancelled all classes and operations. They will announce plans for Wednesday by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Rasmussen University's Fort Myers Campus classes for Tuesday are cancelled. At this time they plan to reopen on Wednesday.

All campuses will continue to update students and staff via email and their websites.

Tropical Storm Idalia, which is forecast to strengthen to a Category 3 hurricane before hitting Florida's Gulf Coast early Wednesday, is expected to push several feet of ocean water onto land in Lee and Collier counties, according to the National Weather Service.
