FHP: 11 injured, 1 seriously, in two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Escambia County

A Thursday evening crash involving two SUVs on Interstate 10 in Escambia County left 11 people injured, including one in serious condition.

The first SUV, driven by a 58-year-old Jonesville, Louisiana, woman, was traveling eastbound on I-10 at mile marker 7 in the outside lane at approximately 7:26 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver missed her exit, slowed down and attempted to change to the inside lane to turn around in the median. In doing, she failed to maintain awareness of eastbound traffic in the inside lane.

As a result, when she changed lanes, the rear of her SUV collided with the front area of a second SUV, driven by a 32-year-old Mobile, Alabama, woman.

The Jonesville woman and four of her passengers suffered minor injuries, while a fifth was left in serious condition. The Mobile woman and all four of her passengers suffered minor injuries.
