FHP: Deadly crash shuts down stretch of John Young Parkway in Osceola County

The Florida Highway Patrol is at the scene of a deadly crash near Kissimmee.

10:15 a.m. update:

FHP reports there is still roadblock for all southbound lanes and the inside northbound lane of John Young Parkway.

Investigators said the three-vehicle crash happened when the northbound driver of a Hyundai Veloster rear-ended an SUV and then swerved into southbound traffic.

Troopers said a pickup truck then struck the Hyundai.

The driver of the Hyundai, 25, of Kissimmee, was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital but died from his injuries, FHP said.

The driver of the SUV wasn’t hurt and the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries, according to troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.

8:30 a.m. update:

FHP is reporting that the northbound center and outside lane of North John Young Parkway are now open.

The inside northbound lane and all southbound lanes of JYP remain blocked, troopers said.

Troopers responded to the crash on John Young Parkway near Ball Park Road around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.

As of 8 a.m., FHP reported that all lanes of John Young Parkway were blocked in the area.

The crash involved three vehicles, according to FHP.

Officials are asking drivers in this area to use caution and seek alternate routes.
