FHP: DUI driver crashes, flips car in Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office parking lot

A Milton man is in jail after reportedly driving while under the influence and crashing his car in the parking lot of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:34 a.m. Friday at 5755 E. Milton Road, the facility that houses both the SRSO's administrative headquarters and the county jail.

A 24-year-old Milton man was driving his vehicle north on East Milton Road when he entered the oncoming travel lane, then began traveling through the open grassy area of the Sheriff's Office, the release said. The vehicle struck a tree and came to rest on its side.

The driver was not injured in the crash, but an investigating FHP trooper observed the driver display "multiple signs of impairment."

A DUI investigation was conducted by a drug recognition expert and the driver was subsequently arrested and walked inside to the Santa Rosa County Jail.
