FHP: Elderly woman dies on scene after pulling in front of oncoming car on Highway 98

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a car crash in Santa Rosa County that left a 60-year-old woman dead.

The woman was driving east on U.S. Highway 98 near Ambassador Drive when she stopped within a paved median to make a left turn; however, she failed to yield to a second vehicle traveling west before pulling out. The second vehicle then collided with her vehicle.

"After the collision (60-year-old's) vehicle and vehicle two slid in a northwesterly direction and entered the ditch," FHP's report states. "Both vehicles were still in contact at final rest."

According to the report, the second driver did not sustain any injuries.

As of approximately 2:45 p.m. FHP currently had the roadway blocked off for the investigation and asked motorists to find an alternate routes, according to Santa Rosa County. An estimated time of reopening was unavailable.
