FHP investigating deadly head-on crash involving motorcycle and SUV in Volusia County

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly head-on collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV in Volusia County.

Troopers said the crash happened just after midnight on State Road 415 south of Quail Ridge Road in New Smyrna Beach.

According to a news release, a black Harley Davidson was traveling southbound on State Road 415 and a blue Honda CRV was traveling northbound on SR-415.

The motorcycle crossed over the center line and drover directly into the path of the CRV, causing the two vehicles to crash head-on.

The motorcycle rider, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 43-year-old driver of the CRV was airlifted to the hospital and remains in serious condition.

This crash remains under investigation.
