FHP launches ‘Stuff the Charger’ food drive for Florida families in need

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and Florida Highway Patrol want to help feed Florida families in need this holiday season with the start of the annual “Stuff the Charger” food drive.

Through Nov. 30, residents can drop off non-perishable food donations at any local FHP station.

FLHSMV Executive Director Terry L. Rhodes said last year the drive collected more than 10,000 pounds of food items for food banks across Florida.

“We are proud to continue this tradition to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our fellow Floridians,” Rhodes said.

FHP director Colonel Gene Spaulding said the goal is to make a meaningful impact in the lives of Florida families.

“Hurricane Ian devastated southwest Florida, and with your help, we can provide those in need with critical food donations,” Spaulding said.

Each year the department partners with a network of local organizations with the goal of delivering much-needed food in the fight against hunger.
