FHP searching for driver who abandoned car after fatal hit-and-run in Santa Rosa

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist dead Monday night in Santa Rosa County.

The unknown driver was traveling on Oakleaf Drive in a red Ford Focus at approximately 9:40 p.m. when he turned left onto Hamilton Bridge Road, directly in the path of an oncoming motorcycle driven by a 29-year-old Utica, Mississippi, man, according to an FHP report.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Ford Focus fled on foot.

Witnesses described the driver of the Focus as a white man, approximately 6 feet tall with a large build and blondish hair.

Anyone with information concerning the crash is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers.
