FHP searching for vehicle after hit-and-run claims life of Pensacola pedestrian

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in locating a sports utility vehicle involved in a West Fairfield Drive hit-and-run crash that killed a Pensacola pedestrian Sunday night.

The pedestrian, a 43-year-old Pensacola man, was walking northbound on the east shoulder of West Fairfield Drive at approximately 9:40 p.m., according to an FHP report. At the same time, the SUV was traveling in the northbound lane of West Fairfield Drive, just north of Hestia Place.

The vehicle veered to the right, traveling onto the east shoulder of the road and continuing until its right-front corner collided with the pedestrian. The vehicle then fled, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

Vehicle parts that were collected on the scene indicated that the suspect vehicle is a red, 2018-2019 Chevrolet Traverse SUV.

Anyone with information concerning the crash is asked to call *FHP.
