The Gulf Breeze boys and girls soccer teams finished the 2021-22 regular season as the area's highest-ranked programs according to Florida High School Athletic Association.
The final soccer rankings were released by the FHSAA on Monday as the district playoffs begin this week.
Ending the regular season with a 14-2-2 record, the Dolphins boys team rose to the top spot in Region 1-5A and fourth in Class 5A. Although their rating fell more than three points from a week ago, Gulf Breeze has the area's best rating at 18.276.
At 10-3-1, the Lady Dolphins (16.987) dropped six spots to 20th overall in the state, but held firm within their standing in their region and class. They remain the favorite to emerge out of Region 1-5A and are third in 5A.
Elsewhere, on the boys side, Pensacola Catholic (third in Region 1-3A), West Florida (third in Region 1-4A), Booker T. Washington (fifth in Region 1-6A) and Tate (sixth in Region 1-6A) appear on their way to more action on the pitch beyond districts.
