FHSAA rankings: Navarre girls, Pine Forest boys maintain area's best ratings in latest update
While each have suffered losses as of late, Navarre and Gulf Breeze continue to be home to the highest-ranked basketball programs among Pensacola-area teams.
The Florida High School Athletic Association released their latest rankings this past Monday, with the Lady Raiders and the Dolphins boys earning the area's best marks.
Navarre fell 53-40 last Friday at Fort Walton Beach to suffer its third defeat of the season. By virtue, the Raiders tumbled to the fourth-ranked team in Region 1-6A, ninth in Class 6A and 33rd overall with a rating of 14.964.
Despite its lowest rating of the season, Navarre is comfortably ahead of the rest of of the area's programs. The only team that is ranked in the top-100 in the state is Pine Forest (11.185), who is fifth in Region 1-5A, 12th in 5A and 77th overall.
On the boys side, Gulf Breeze (11.170) takes the top spot in the area. However, since the rankings were released, the team was bested in back-to-back contests, first on Monday night at Choctaw and the following night at Pine Forest.
