After numerous sightings of the Mobi on Brazilian roads, Fiat finally lifted the drapes off this hatchback and launched it at a price of Real 31,900 (Rs 6.08 lakh).

Fiat’s Mobi is built around the Uno, however, the length and wheelbase of the car has been shortened to help gain stellar versatility in traffic. Fiat has gone to the extent of advertising that buyers do not need anything more than a Mobi for day-to-day city driving! Sources revealed that this cute hatch is much more enticing to view in the flesh than in jpegs. Fiat has taken utmost care to equip this model with excellent quality and this is evident even in the texture of plastic used.

Cabin space is similar to that of the Uno; the dash also has circular air vents at the ends, a high sound system in the middle and ventilation controls with circular buttons. Space at the rear end of the cabin is good for two adults at large, and the boot can swallow 235 litres. Powering the Mobi is the 1.0-litre Fire engine that makes 75bhp and uses a five-speed manual gearbox. As this vehicle is 60kg lighter than the Uno, expect the Mobi to offer better performance and frugality.

Fiat’s Mobi is targeted at the VW Up!, and the car maker hopes to take up a sizeable share in this segment.
