  • Fiat Chrysler's "Deal or No Deal" sales event keeps the price of Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Jeep models steady in the event of exchange rate changes or tariffs.

  • To qualify, vehicles must be ordered before the October 31 deadline for a Brexit decision.

  • The deal will give U.K. residents one less thing to worry about, although in our experience Alfa Romeo and Fiat ownership comes with its own set of monetary concerns.

In what may appear to be a last-ditch move to sell cars ahead of the impending U.K. departure from the European Union, popularly known as "Brexit," Fiat Chrysler has announced a "Deal or No Deal" sales event that guarantees pricing on all Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Jeep vehicles ordered in the U.K. prior to the October 31 Brexit deadline.

The deal will provide British consumers some peace of mind: If currency exchange rates are affected or if tariffs are imposed because of the U.K. leaving the European Union, FCA will honor the price that was agreed on when British customers placed their orders.

Such an offer reminds us of General Motors' 2001 "Keep America Rolling" campaign or Hyundai's program to take back vehicles bought before the Great Recession hit in 2009. Brexit has been a sore spot and a point of stress for British citizens for the past few years, particularly because of its long and highly controversial path to completion, which is precisely what makes this deal so appealing: It's one less thing to worry about.

Regardless of what happens with Brexit, currency exchange rates or new tariffs are not likely to raise prices of the Italian brand to a point where they're undercut by other brands; many of its products are among the most affordable cars on the U.K. market. Right now, online car brokerage website broadspeed.com is showing discounts up to the equivalent of $6700 for the 500L wagon, which we recently called "unloved." The situation may be different for Alfa Romeo and Jeep models.

More interestingly to American readers who can't take advantage of the Brexit deal, Fiat Chrysler's press release led with a photo (shown above) of a bright red 500X Sport model which we, unfortunately, don't get in the United States. The car's monochromatic body work looks more upscale than the SUV-ified model we get here with black plastic cladding. Also included (and shown above) was a Fiat 500 Abarth with rad lime-green accents.
