The "Field of Dreams" TV show won't be happening through Peacock.

Variety reported on Thursday that the NBCUniversal streaming service, Peacock — which had previously been reported to have ordered the series with Michael Schur ("The Good Place," "The Office") as writer and executive producer — has backed away from the show.

The "Field of Dreams" show is an adaptation of the 1989 Kevin Costner film of the same name, which is itself an adaptation of the 1982 novel "Shoeless Joe," written by Iowa Writers' Workshop graduate W.P. Kinsella.

In late June, the state of Iowa announced plans to put $6 million toward this new "Field of Dreams" show, part of a grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority given in the interest of promoting tourism.

When this grant was initially announced, it was noted that the show would not film at the Dyersville baseball diamond used in the original film. Filming was announced to take place in other Iowa locations in Polk, Mahaska, Clinton and Boone counties.

With Peacock no longer ordering "Field of Dreams," Universal Television is now shopping the show to other outlets.
