Field hockey recaps for September 10: Clarkstown South, Putnam Valley take tournaments

Saturday's recaps

Clarkstown South 1, North Salem 1 (CS wins tourney in shootout)

The final of Pleasantville's Autism Awareness Tournament goes in the Section 1 books a a tie, since there's no overtime during the regular season. But for purposes of the determining a tournament winner, Satruday's game went to a shootout and the Vikings prevailed in the second round.

During regulation, Sophie Aversano scored off an assist from Skylar Bendar for the Tigers before, with about 10 minutes to play, Olivia Galati's beautiful deflection of a Jordan Sheer pass knotted the score.

Shana Goldsmith and Fiona Doherty had strong games at midfield for South.

Sascha Wallos had 10 saves for North Salem and Allegra Delli Carpini had three saves.

Hannah Doherty had seven saves for the Vikings.

White Plains: 7, North Rockland, 0

Stella Gould and Emily Garceau both scored twice and Courtney Austin, Vogue Friend and Chloe Ryan had single tallies, Friend' and Ryan's scores their first varsity goals.

Alivia Alexander had two assists and Ava Gould, Brianna Hanratty, Mackenzie Kelly, Tamar Brumberg and Sophia Emmert each had one assist.

North Rockland goalie McKenzie Clerici had five saves.

Tiger keeper Saumya Sawant stopped one shot to record the shutout.

Holy Child 4, Hopkins: 0

In the season opener for both teams, Gracyn Finn scored twice and Sophia Somma stopped eight shots and Mairead Stanton stopped three shots to combine on the shutout win.

The game was scoreless until the second quarter when Kate Shabaan scored off a Sophia Davis pass. Three minutes later, Finn scored off a penalty corner and assist from Mary Adair Pannarella.

Davis assisted on an Alyssa Castillo goal before Finn wrapped up the scoring, taking a pass from Aine McIntyre and rifling in a shot off the glove of Hopkins keeper Holly Pisani.

Pisani had eight saves and Maggie Russell had five saves for Hopkins.

Sienna Favuzza had a huge defensive game for Hackley to help keep Hopkins off the scoresheet.

Mamaroneck 7, Ketcham 0

The Tigers didn't allow a single shot on net and six players scored for them, including Lizzie Astorina, who had two goals.

Audrey Adorno, Catherine Darcy, Ruby Pearson, Emma Kringdon and Olivia Tennant had the other Tiger scores.

Ali Maresca, Astorina and Darcy each had two assists and Carlie Spano had one assist.

Gwenyth Brown had nine saves for Ketcham.

Putnam Valley 3, Albertus Magnus 1

Maggie Sampson and Ava Harmon both had a goal and an assist and Izzy Cerrato also scored as the Tigers captured the Yorktown Tournament championship.

Adrianna Giarinetti scored for the Falcons, assisted by Sarah Fischer.

Tiger keeper Kylie Recuppio, who made the All-Tournament team, had five saves.

Albertus Magnus keeper Tara Costello also had five stops.

Harman was named tournament MVP.

Yorktown 3, Sleepy Hollow 0

Brie Gaccino had two goals, Ellie Glicksman scored once and Maeve Ryan picked up the shutout with three saves in the consolation game of the Yorktown Tournament..

Gianna Altimari had two assists and Willa Hanley had one assist.

Sleepy Hollow goalie Roxie Bloom had two saves.

Mahopac 1, Ossining 0

Marie Camastro scored the game's only goal unassisted and Madison Orsini recorded the shutout with four saves.

Ossining netminder Ashley Rosales had a big game, stopping 13 shots, most coming off Mahopac's 15 penalty corners.

Horace Greeley 1, Arlington 0

Greeley's Alyssa Rose scored, the only blemish for Arlington keeper Amanda Cimillo, who neared 600 saves for her varsity career by stopping 26 Greeley shots.

Mila Brown assisted on Rose's goal.

Arlington didn't put any shots on Greeley keeper Meredith Dalyrmple.

Hastings 4, Edgemont 1

Emma Leddy scored twice, including once on a penalty stroke, and Sarah Weinstein and Hanna Kirshbaum had solo tallies.

Lyla Gatterdam and Aynsley Zamore both had an assist.

Bella Rutherford scored off a Penelope Kraus assist for Edgemont.

Edgemont goalie Taylor Kennedy stopped 16 shots.

Yellow jacket keeper Vivian Smith had seven saves.

Nanuet 4, Clarkstown North 2

Makaela Larkin, Ashley Wain, Ava Barros and Katherine Conway scored.

Zoe Rodriguez had an assist.

Devon Watson netted the Rams' goal off a Jenna Hill assist.

For North, Devon Watson and Sabrina Piselli scored. Jenna Hill had an assist.

Nanuet keeper Meghan Meehan stopped five shots.

Olivia Leahy had 14 saves for the Rams.

Friday's recaps

Rye 2, John Jay-Cross River 1

Rye, which opened the season sixth in area rankings, took down the No. 4 Wolves behind goals by Lily Whaling and Scarlette Karmilowicz.

Mia Puccio had the Wolf goal, assisted by Meghan Condon.

Garnet goalie Chloe Holdens topped two shots.

Molly Gallagher and Emily Fuller each had one save for John Jay-CR.

Hastings 4, Valhalla 2

Lyla Gatterdam scored twice and Emma Leddy and Sarah Weinstein had solo tallies, Leddy's coming via a penalty stroke.

Leddy had two assists and Gatterdam had one assist.

Valhalla's Ava DeNatale also scored on a penalty stroke and Gianna DiGilio had the Vikings' other goal, unassisted.

Viking keeper Morein Kruger stopped 16 shots.

Vivian Smith had six saves for Hastings.

Lakeland 7, Pearl River 0

Gabby Santini and Emily Yazzetti both scored twice and Kiera Gallagher, Bella Basulto and Emily Daniel each had one goal for the 4-0 Hornets.

Gallagher had two assists and Charlotte Sabert, Emma Numme and Santini each had one assist.

Megan McDonald stopped 10 shots for the 1-3 Pirates.

Celeste Pagliaroli had three saves and Maeve Dineen-Herzog didn't face any shots as the two combined on the shutout.

Ossining 4, Rye Neck 1

Kaitlin Edmonds and Maddie Wichman both scored twice and Lexi Cusano and Anjali Layman each had an assist.

Amelia Kligman scored the Panther goal.

Ossining netminder Ashley Rosales stopped six shots.

Panther keeper Klara Finkenberg had four saves.

Hackley 7, Riverdale 0

The Hornets raised their record to 2-0 as seven players scored, Catie O'Rourke recorded four assists and Avery Leighton and Reagan Begley both stopped one shot to combine on the shutout.

Charlotte Rotenberg, Gabi Kalapoutis, Lucia Monteleone, Devyn O’Callaghan, Chris Thompson. Emily Koch and Zoe Kalapoutis scored and Rotenberg had an assist.

Riverdale goalie Emma Koch had 12 saves.

Albertus Magnus 4, Croton 0

Courtney Devers had a goal and two assists and Tara Costello and Rileigh Johnson each stopped three shots to combine on the shutout.

Cassidy Deierlein, Emma Ocallaghan and Jenna Cunningham also had solo tallies and Sarah Fischer had an assist.

Tiger keeper Tuula Moorhead had three saves.

Harrison 9, Byram Hills 0

Abby Trotta scored four times and Corrie Sandomenico had two goals.

Sabrina Cosmo, Kayla Porto and Sofia Puccio also scored.

Kayla Porto had two assists and Adriana Braiotta, Chelsea Porto, Lila Berkery, Sandomenico, Trotta and Puccio each had one assist.

Bobcat keeper Kiki Gavril had 10 saves.

Adriana Marraccini had three saves to record the shutout for Harrison.

Thursday's recaps

Fox Lane 10, Byram Hills 1

Zoe Stonecipher had a huge game, scoring four times and adding an assist, and Samantha Reder had a hat trick and an assist.

Sidney Sicignano had a pair of goals and an assist, and Maggie Grasso tallied once.

Harli Rappaport scored the Bobcat goal.

Kiki Gavril had nine saves for Byram Hills.

Fox keeper Isabella Vasquez picked up the shutout, stopping one shot.

North Salem 3, Pleasantville 2

In the opening round of Pleasantville's Autism Awareness Tournament, Sophia Aversano netted her first and second goals on varsity, the latter the game-winner.

Molly Videla scored and assisted on both Aversano goals.

Aversano's first goal, off a blasted shot from the top of the circle, knotted the score 1-1 with two seconds left in the first half. Her second goal broke a 2-2 tie and came with her deflecting a Videla shot.

Brady Ellicott assisted on Videla's goal.

Natalie O'Malley scored for Pleasantville and assisted on Aisling Mulcahy's third-quarter goal.

Allegra Delli Carpini had five saves for the Tigers, while Sascha Wallos, who replaced her in net, didn't face any shots.

Panther keeper Chloe Egan had four saves.

Clarkstown South 4, John Jay-East Fishkill 1

Mallory Dinsay, Olivia Galati, Ella St Louis and Jordan Sheer scored as the Vikings advanced to the final of Pleasantville's Autism Awareness Tournament.

Shana Goldsmith, Fiona Doherty, Galati and Sheer each had an assist.

Kaylee Reeves scored for the Patriots off a Hope Angiolleti assist.

Hope Roberts had a big defensive game at sweeper for the Vikings and goalie Hannah Doherty recorded nine saves, some highlight reel material.

Lauren Mastromarco had eight saves for John Jay-EF.

Bronxville 4, Croton 0

Franny Krause had a hat trick and Annie Greatrex also scored.

Fiona Denning had an assist.

Croton keeper Tuula Moorhead had 12 saves

Bronxville's Sofia Costanzo stopped one shot to record the shutout.

Nanuet 1, Brewster 0

Ava Barros scored off a Zoe Rodriguez assist and Meaghan Meehan had a big game in net, stopping 14 shots to record the shutout.

Bear keeper Maura McIntyre had five saves.

Ursuline 6, Clarkstown North 0

Kayla Wels and Abby Dold both scored twice and Sienna Gills and Amelia Dolis had solo tallies.

Dolis had two assists and Cate McTigue, Paige Moretti and Gills each had one assist.

Clarkstown North keeper Olivia Leahy was bombarded with shots and had 23 saves.

Irvington 3, Edgemont 1

Gabriella D'alessio scored twice and Tessa McRae had the Bulldogs' other goal.

Carleigh Taylor had two assists and Claire Brady had one assist.

Penelope Kraus scored for Edgemont.

Panther keeper Taylor Kenney had 10 saves

Irvington's Sam Quinio turned aside seven shots.

Wednesday's recaps

Rye Neck 1, Harrison 1

Rye Neck keeper Klara Finkenberg put on an incredible performance Wednesday, yielding just one goal and stopping 40 other shots.

That goal was to Harrison's Chelsea Porto, who scored off an Abby Trotta assist.

Noele Radulovic had the Rye Neck goal with Lola Jovanovic assisting.

But the Panthers generated little other offense.

Harrison goalie Adriana Braiotta had one save for the game.

Albertus Magnus 2, Sleepy Hollow 1

In the opening round of Yorktown's SPCA-benefit tournament, Sarah Fischer and Emma O'Callaghan scored and Tara Costello stopped seven shots.

Adrianna Giannetti and Jenna Cunningham each had an assist.

Juliet Loffredo scored the Headless Horsemen's goal.

Sleepy Hollow keeper Roxie Bloom had eight saves.

Magnus will face Putnam Valley in Saturday's 11:30 a.m. championship game.

Putnam Valley 0, Yorktown 0 (Put Valley to championship)

The Putnam Valley-Husker game ended in a tie but, because it was part of the Yorktown SPCA Tournament and a winner was needed, an overtime shootout was conducted. And that's where Ava Harmon starred. Her shootout goal lifted the Tigers to Saturday's tournament championship game.

Both goalies were flawless in regulation with Tiger keeper Kylie Recuppio stopping eight shots and Yorktown's Maeve Ryan turning aside seven shots.

Somers 5, Nanuet 1

Lauren McCartin and Emily Esposito both scored twice and Caitlin Janecka had a solo tally.

Charlotte Carroll and McCartin each had an assist.

Evelyn Fay had the Golden Knights' tally off a Mikaela Larkin assist.

Nanuet goalie Megan Meehan had five saves.

Tusker keeper Kamryn Seeger had one save.

Nyack 0, Edgemont 0

In another scoreless contest Wednesday, Edgemont’s Taylor Kenney had seven saves and RedHawk keeper Emily Rodriguez stopped five shots.

Rye 5, Pearl River 0

Megan McDonald did her best to keep things close and the Pirate keeper, who finished with 22 saves, did just that for a big chunk of time, yielding only her second goal to Rye off a corner after time expired in the third quarter. But, in te final frame, the ranked Garnets put the game well out of reach.

Charlotte Langer, Beau Whaling, Rory Baer, Lilly Whaling and Kate Morreale scored for the Garnets with Beau Whaling's goal giving them that 2-0 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Carolyn Doyle had two assists and Scarlette Karmilowicz, Ava Chiaravalle and Morreale had one assist apiece.

Garnet goalie Chloe Holden had one save to notch the shutout.

Panas 5, Hen Hud 1

Elie Healy scored twice and Hayley Madden had a goal and two assists.

Mackenzie Schmidt and Bella Gomez also scored for the Panthers and Nicole Rutigliano had an assist.

Rowan Dapson scored for the Sailors off a Gianna Gagliardi assist.

Hen Hud's Emily Hunt had six saves.

Panther keeper Kate Astrab turned aside four shots.

Pelham 3, Brewster 1

Leila Brady, Olivia Dolsky and Ava Sobolak scored for the Pelicans.

Emma Crotty and Ava Gatti both had an assist.

Beth Haywood scored off an Ellie Cassidy assist for Brewster.

Bear keeper Maura McIntyre came up big multiple times and finished with 12 saves.

Pelham's Kaitlin Sheehy had one save.

Garnet goalie Chloe Holden had a huge game, stopping 20 shots, but Mamaroneck moved to 2-0 on the season behind goals from Kate Orchanian, Olivia Tennant and Carlie Spano.

Olivia Tennant, Lilhy Margoshes and Shannon Gallaher each had an assist.

Tiger keeper Danielle Maresca stopped six shots to record the shutout.
