It's time to vote in the second round of the Evansville Burger Bracket
The first weekend of the NCAA tournament saw some shocking upsets − Princeton over Arizona. Farleigh Dickinson beating Purdue.
The opening round of the Courier & Press' Evansville Burger Bracket had its share of surprises, too.
Here's who won, along with the share of the vote, in the opening round (The Savory 16):
Spunky underdog Hoosier Burger topped Zestos on Riverside by getting 58% of the vote.
In a victory for a locally owned outlet, Corner Bar defeated Bru Burger, garnering 65.7% of the vote.
Downtown favorite Major Munch took a win over Sportsman's by collecting 54.6% of the vote.
Samuel's topped Amy's on Franklin, a battle of two upscale eateries, by getting 70.2% of votes.
In the most popular of the contests, Big Top got 64.7% of all votes to defeat Hornet's Nest.
East Side restaurant Bubba's 33 carried 65.7% of the vote in defeating Doc's.
The Peephole, a Main Street favorite, won the closest of all the contests, defeating Five Guys with 52.3% of votes.
In the eighth and final contest, Burger Bank knocked off longtime favorite GD Ritzy's by collecting 67% of votes.
That sets up Round 2, also known as the Good Eatin' 8, with voting to run from Monday morning (March 20) at 9 a.m. Central through Thursday at 6 p.m. A remdinder: You can vote as often as you like.
